Hallowino 2015

You know it's been a busy week when I haven't even updated about Hallowino! Our grand tradition started six years ago and is going strong. We dressed as (left to right): a goth, Sadness and Disgust from Inside Out, a devil and the ghost of Veronica Lake.

Nothing makes us more delighted than creepy Halloween wines! We sampled some lovely reds, including:
  • 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon: This fun line of wines has a different crime printed on every cork, signifying the 19 crimes one had to commit to get shipped off to Australia. It has hints of red currants, dark berries, sweet vanilla and caramel.
  • Ravenswood Besieged: A great red blend; we're always big fans of the annual Ravenswood Halloween wine!
  • Carnivor Cabernet: A big, bold red with flavors of berries, coffee, mocha and oak.
  • Witching Hour Deep Red Reserve: My hands-down favorite, this wine tasted of dark berries and espresso. Extremely drinkable.
  • Ghost Pines Pinot Noir: A bolder pinot with suggestions of cherry pie, pomegranate and coffee beans.

Lauren hosted a lovely potluck with a delicious salad, truffles from The Bonbonnier, and Erica's brilliant fettucine alfredo with green food coloring in both the boiling water and the sauce.

Ashleigh brought a delicious seven-layer bean dip with a spider web of sour cream.

And they don't look great here, but I made mummy hot dogs wrapped in strips of crescent roll dough. Easy peasy and so good!
